DAY 1 Part 2 - Basic Wildlife Rehabilitator's Course
This introductory course, facilitated by the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC), is designed for anyone in the community interested in the welfare and protection of our native wildlife. Information is presented by Perth Zoo's veterinary staff and some of Western Australia's most experienced wildlife rehabilitators. They will share their expertise in their specialised fields - marsupials (kangaroos and possums), reptiles, and birds (including raptors).
This course also caters for those interested in volunteering their time at an established wildlife rehabilitation centre. It is a prerequisite also for those volunteers who, in the future, would like to become an accredited DEC Wildlife Rehabilitator and care for animals in their own home.
The course is conducted several times each year on either two consecutive Saturday mornings (8:30am - 1:00pm) and the second full day on Sunday (8:30am - 4:30pm); or over two full days in one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Courses are held at the Training Rooms, DEC State Operational Headquarters, 17 Dick Perry Avenue, Kensington.
Participants will receive a comprehensive course manual and, a certificate on completion of the course. Fees for the course are $198.00 including GST. Metropolitan course dates for 2009 are in May, July and September.
