We last treated the "at risk" areas of this beautiful Reserve in 2008 and it now needs our support again.
Stinton Cascades Nature Reserve is classified by the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) as a Nature Reserve. Nature Reserves are set aside for the conservation and restoration of the natural environment, the protection, care and study of indigenous flora and fauna, and the preservation of any feature of archaeological, historic or scientific interest. Only low-impact recreation may be permitted, and this only providing it does not adversely affect ecosystems.
We are very fortunate to have such a well-preserved Reserve in our area. It is very important that people and animals who walk through the Reserve are careful not to spread dieback disease.
Many volunteers are needed to help protect this large reserve.
We will meet in Gardiner Road, Karragullen. Signs will be on the Brookton Highway indicating where we will be. If you go past the Rock Inne Tavern then you have gone too far. Click here for a map.
A delicious morning tea is provided for helpers.
Important Note: If the weather is looking very stormy, then check our website at 8.00am on the morning of the field day for any cancellation notice.
Turn off the Albany Highway in Kelmscott into Brookton Highway and travel up the hills through Roleystone. Go past Chevin Road and either turn into Irymple Road or turn into Gardiner Road. If you reach the Rock Inne Tavern then you know you have gone too far.
