Description

This Saturday 10 December – 6am at Roleypool- we will be holding a blessing of the Canning River.

This simple ceremony is for us all to take a few minutes to reflect on why we care for the Swan and Canning Rivers and the associated waterways and wetlands.

To reflect on all the amazing attributes of these precious waterways and their significance to us and the community. To take a few minutes to think about how we all can continue to assist these most amazing and precious waterways that we are so fortunate to have in our lives.

To give thanks for all those who are committed to the Swan and Canning Rivers repair and management and to pray that all decision makers now and in the future that they will give their due respect in regards to these waterways in their roles as leaders in our community.

There will be other ceremonies both large and small occurring along the foreshore of the Swan and Canning Rivers at this time.

Consider the magic of so many people gathered along the Swan and Canning River at sunrise all focusing on these precious waterways.

It will be a simple ceremony that should take about 20 minutes and we will have tea and coffee availlableafterwards.

Just as they have the blessing of the fleet and the blessing of the roads we believe that following the outstanding success of similar events we held on the Canning and Wungong quite a few years ago that it is important that we start to hold this special ceremony on an annual basis.

The event will be at the section of Roleypool below the steep stairs on Collins Drive. This site can also be accessed by walking in from Soldiers Road Bridge (about 1km). Parking is available on both sides of bridge

Our Canning River blessing is being organised by SERCUL and the Armadale Rivercare Group.
