RAPID BUSHLAND ASSESSMENT

Date: Saturday 4th September 2010
Time: 9.00 am - 1.00 pm
Venue: Parkerville Hall, Seaborne Street, Parkerville

Presented by Geoff Barrett, DEC.

More than just plants! Your remnant bushland may be home to a suite of different species including ants, birds and lizards. Knowing what you have within a patch of bush can tell you a lot about how well it is functioning as an ecosystem. Come and learn from DEC expert Geoff Barrett how to carry out Rapid Habitat Assessments using techniques including ant sampling and bird surveys to further extend your knowledge of the behind the scenes action responsible for healthy bushland.

The workshop will begin in the classroom with an explanation of what rapid habitat assessments involve and how this information can be utilised, followed by field sessions and back to the classroom to enter the data into a spreadsheet for longevity.

To reserve a place on the workshop, please see Registration Details below.

What to bring to a workshop

Workshops will be conducted outside. Please wear sturdy footwear (for hiking), bring along your hat, sunscreen, water and snacks, and dress suitably for the weather. Bring rain protection, if required.
